On this 3 hour tour you will:

  • Explore the beauty of the Virgin Islands National Park above and below the water.
  • Hike the Lind Point Trail and learn about the important role flora and fauna play in this dynamic tropical ecosystem. 
  • Snorkel around the coral reef at Honeymoon Beach, one of the most spectacular on St. John, and learn to identify the colorful marine life swimming all around you. 
  • Hike through a grove of cinnamon, the botanical gardens of Caneel Bay Resort, and explore the history of the former Sugar Mill Plantation. 


Looking to pack a BIG experience into a short amount of time? Then we’ve got just the adventure for you! This tour is designed for groups of 6 or more. Join us at the Virgin Islands National Park Visitor’s Center. From here you’ll follow your nature guide along the Lind Point Trail. Learn about the amazing diversity of plants and animals that exist here. Listen as your guide tells you about the island’s history and island trivia! Stop at the scenic overlook for a view of Cruz Bay and St. Thomas before you descend the trail to one of St. John’s most beautiful beaches, Honeymoon Beach. For those who need it, snorkeling instruction is offered before heading out on a guided snorkel tour to explore the coral reefs and sea grass beds that are home to innumerable marine species. The final portion of the hike takes you through a grove of wild cinnamon, the botanical gardens, and the Sugar Mill Plantation Ruins of Caneel Bay Resort. From here an island taxi will bring you back to the VINP Visitor’s Center in Cruz Bay.

 Tour Itinerary:

  • Meet at the Virgin Islands National Park Visitor Center in Cruz Bay, two blocks from the passenger ferry terminal at the entrance to the Virgin Islands National Park.
  • Hike along the Lind Point Trail with views of the waters overlooking nearby cays and St. Thomas.
  • Take photos from a scenic overlook that was a former British Military Lookout during the Napoleonic Wars in the late 1700s.
  • Learn about various ecosystems—plants, animals, and birds—and learn about island history and lore while hiking the one mile easy trail to Honeymoon Beach.
  • Visit Honeymoon Beach where you will find restrooms and lockers at our Honeymoon Hut Watersports Center.
  • Outfit yourself with snorkel gear, mask, fins and floatation and enter the undersea paradise, viewing colorful corals, seagrass areas with sting rays, and keep your eyes peeled for sea turtles!
  • your tour ends at Honeymoon Beach where you may choose to stay longer to enjoy the beautiful beach and facilities. 
  • Upon leaving Honeymoon Beach you may choose to walk back the original hike, or walk 8 min to the Caneel Bay taxi stand which is near the Caneel Bay Beach Bar where you could stop for excellent casual dinner overlooking the sunset, or perhaps grilled paninis or homemade gelato ice cream from Canella's a cafe.
  • The return taxi from the Caneel Bay Resort's Taxi stand is $5 per person, for a scenic one mile ride along the North Shore drive. 

Please meet your Nature Guide at the relief map inside the V.I. National Park Visitor Center in Cruz Bay, St. John 15 minutes before scheduled your departure time.

Our Eco Hike excursion ends at the Caneel Bay Parking lot. There are taxis waiting in the resort's guest parking lot that will bring you back to the starting point, The Virgin Islands National Park Visitor's Center. The fare for the taxi is $5 per person.  Many guests choose to enjoy the prettiest view of the evening's sunset from Caneel Bay's Beach Bar, sipping a tropical drink, and enjoying hors d'oeuvres or a casual dinner.

 We kindly ask our guests to bring along the following items for their tour, so they can have as much fun as possible!

  • Bathing suit and towel
  • Clothing that can get wet, hat, sunglasses etc. for sun protection
  • Footwear suitable for a rocky trail, a strap around the heel is recommended.


As a part of this tour, we include snorkels & masks, life jackets, free lockers, water & small chocolate snack, a full safety briefing, and snorkeling instruction.

Our Honeymoon Beach Hut has restrooms, picnic tables, hammocks and sells T-shirts, hats, sunscreens, coverups, and unique St. John souvenirs.

Your payment is 100% refundable until 24 hours before the date and time your tour is due to depart. If you cancel your booking with less than 24 hours notice or fail to show up for your tour, then the full cost of the tour will be charged to the credit card used to guarantee your tour.
