On this fun-packed tour you will:

  • Kayak over the turquoise waters of Caneel Bay.
  • Learn about the wildlife of this protected and beautiful area.
  • Two different snorkel spots let you swim and explore the underwater life at Henley Cay's reef and Scott Beach. Keep your eyes peeled for seaturtles roaming around the seagrass at Scott Beach!
  • Hike and explore the Caneel Peninsula, including Hawksnest Beach and along the Mary's Point Nature Trail.

Enjoy the best of both of our favorite tour locations: Caneel Bay and Henley Cay. With Scott Beach, frequented by sea turtles and sting rays, Henley Cay is a tropical and tranquil uninhabited cay inside Virgin Islands National Park. On this tour you will start at Honeymoon Beach in the pictureque Caneel Bay and kayak over turquoise waters to the charming and deserted Henley Cay, learning about the unique and fascinating wildlife that calls this area home. Henley's protected beach is fringed on both sides with a fabulous coral reef teeming with colorful schools of fish, perfect for our first snorkel of the tour. A hike exploring the Caneel Peninsula will bring you to Hawksnest Beach and along Mary's point Nature Trail.  On the second snorkel around Scott Beach, you will discover an impressive collection of colorful corals including brain, pillar, sheet, star, and the endangered elkhorn and staghorn. From there you will return to Honeymoon Beach in your kayak where you can relax after your tour in a hammock or lounge chair under a coconut tree. A perfect and invigorating day spent in paradise!

This is a limited availability tour, be sure to make your reservation early so you don't miss the date(s) you want.

Directions

Honeymoon Beach at Caneel Bay, St. John is located on the North Shore of the Virgin Islands National Park. You can reach Honeymoon Beach at Caneel Bay Resort several ways:

From St. John:

  • By car (drive to Caneel Bay Resort, one mile from Cruz Bay)
  • By Taxi to Caneel Bay Resort
  • Or, hike the popular LIND POINT TRAIL—an easy one mile (20 minute) path which departs from behind the VI National Park Visitor Center in Cruz Bay, starting a few blocks from the passenger ferry terminal.

From St. Thomas:

  • Take the ferry, which departs from Red Hook (the eastern most point of St. Thomas) every hour on the hour in both directions—$7 per person each way. The ferry is a 15 minute scenic and enjoyable ride. Once in St. John, walk two blocks to the left towards the VI National Park Visitor Center where you will find the Lind Point Trail that leads you to Honeymoon Beach at Caneel Bay, a one mile hike.
  • Or, bring your car on the barge which mostly leaves every 30 minutes and costs $50 round trip. This is a better deal than the passenger ferry if you have 4 or more people as it gives you flexibility without needing a taxi service once on St. John. You will find the car barge to the left of the people passenger ferry on St. Thomas in Red Hook. The last car barge departs St. John at 6:15pm to return to St. Thomas by 6:45 pm.

*Once you arrive at Caneel Bay Resort follow the path to Honeymoon Beach (about an 8-10-minute walk) OR take advantage of our NEW Honeymoon Beach Taxi Service, which is an 8-person golf cart that will shuttle guests from the Caneel Bay Parking lot to Honeymoon Beach for $5 per person each way.

You will return to the Honeymoon Beach Hut with your guide at the conclusion of your tour.

The tour will return to Honeymoon Hut where you may choose to relax for the rest of the day. The Honeymoon Hut at Caneel Bay has a gift shop, restrooms, hammocks, water sports rental, beach chairs and underwater camera rentals.

You will order your lunch with your guide before departing on your tour so that the freshly grilled panini sandwiches (or cold sandwiches such as turkey and cheese, tuna or chicken salad wraps) from the Canella's Cafe at Caneel Bay Resort will be delivered to the beach hut when you return from your adventure.

*Tip: If you park a car at the Caneel Bay parking lot, there will be a $20 parking fee. This parking fee will be waived if you bring your parking voucher to the front desk of the resort and ask for it to be validated.

NEW! This year the Honeymoon Beach Taxi service - an eight person golf cart - will shuttle guests from the parking lot to the beach for $5 per person each way. The distance is typically an 8-10 minute walk.

We kindly ask our guests to bring along the following items for their tour, so they can have as much fun as possible!
