Grab your camera and get out your binoculars because you are invited to join us on a guided kayak adventure through the lush and shallow waters of the Mangrove Lagoon.
A Wildlife and Marine Reserve in St. Thomas, the lagoon is a protected ecosystem playing host to a number of indigenous birds and other wild and marine life. On this tour, you will observe and learn about the incredible diversity of species that inhabit the Virgin Islands, and even learn to identify birds and marine animals yourself. Learn about migrating patterns and the habits and behavior of birds such as blue herons, night herons, egrets, yellow warblers, hummingbirds, or even spot the endangered brown pelican. Expert nature guides will take you on a peaceful paddle at sunset through the dynamic Benner Bay estuary and St. Thomas' East End Reserve.
This tour is for those who love to watch, identify, or learn about birds, as well as those with a curiosity for what makes the Mangrove Lagoon such a unique and vital ecosystem. No experience is necessary. Come to learn and keep your eyes peeled!
This tour departs from Mangrove Lagoon Marina in St. Thomas. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your tour.
Our main marina is located on the southeast side of St. Thomas. Here's how to find us:
From Town: Take route 30 East until it intersects with route 32 (also the Bridge to Nowhere/Esso Station), turn right (southeast) and we are located on the right side of the road. We're the big green trailer with the mask and snorkel on the side.
From Red Hook: Head southwest on route 32 towards town, we are located on the left side of the road. We're the big green trailer with the mask and snorkel on the side.
The tour ends at this same location.
You may wish to bring a waterproof camera and waterproof binoculars are recommended.
All equipment, including tandem kayaks, paddles, and personal floatation devices are provided.
